NOTICE This is not an official site of, nor does it represent, Alcoholics Anonymous. You may contact A.A. at Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. The BIG BOOK BUNCH We are the Big Book Bunch group of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our origins are the Students of the Big Book group, which has met in Woodland Hills, California since December of 1985. Our goals are to live the spiritual process through which sobriety is obtained and enhanced, and to publish (at no charge) our experience for other recovering alcoholics. We have absolutely no affiliation with any organization or cause other than our membership as individuals in A.A.. Our written materials are not official AA literature. They usually do, nevertheless, contain information from the Big Book (Alcoholics Anonymous) and other conference approved literature owned and published by Alcoholics Anonymous. All A.A. material used identifies the source from which it is quoted. References in our documents to Big Book content exclude its stories. Included is all material from inside the front cover through page 164, plus Appendices I (Traditions) and II (Spiritual Experience). You may reproduce materials of the Big Book Bunch, provided: a) that sources of materials (AA or the BBB) are identified, b) that no charge is made for the materials, and c) that they are not distributed by an organization or process that charges a fee. If you have corrections or improvements, please pass them on to us using the mailbox at the bottom. |
OUR SOBRIETY BOOKMARK.
Over the years we have put together some vital information that we carry around with us in the form of a bookmark printed on light green card stock. It will fit in your wallet or purse.
We pass these on to every newcomer we encounter. They are especially useful at Big Book studies and 12 & 12 Step studies.
The files from which our "greenie" is printed are:
MarkStep .... Obverse. Steps, principles and Magnificent 7
MarkPray .... Reverse. Step 3 & 7 prayers & St. Francis prayer
You might try to print out some bookmarks of your own, by printing each of these two tables on opposite sides of light green card stock, weight 67 pounds. We have had success with Wausau Green Exact Vellum Bristol cover paper, #82350.
If you select a color other than green, that might even be better, but you cannot then call the bookmark a "greenie" like we do.
Perhaps your system will work like ours does: MS Internet Explorer 5.0 and HP 4000 laser printer.
Each of the source files is in .html. There are five columns in a single table with a width of 680 pixels. These columns are 188, 58, 188, 58 and 188 pixels wide. The page properties for the tables are 0 inches on each side margin and .5 inches at the top and bottom; however, these don't seem to make a difference.
When you print out either of the tables, you will get three identical columns of text. Print out the other table on the reverse side, and then do some trimming.
We have used a Boston 2610 paper cutter, but recently a Fiskars 12" Rotary Paper Trimmer seems to provide a cleaner cut.
Trim 1/2 inch from each of the four sides. You will then have a 7 1/2 inch wide sheet. Make two vertical cuts of the remaining card at 2 1/2 and 5 inches. You will then have three 10 inch bookmarks, 2 1/2 inches wide, with the steps on one side and the prayers on the other.
If your margins differ from ours, you may have to trim the long edges more or less than 1/2 inch.
Good luck. If this does not work for you, we are sorry, but we cannot offer technical assistance, because you already know as much as we do. If, on the other hand, you can provide us with additional wisdom in this matter, please enlighten us.
